I thought I had seen personalized. Then, I found Frecklebox. With a mission to not only entertain children, but educate them as well, Frecklebox absolutely delivers on this goal, while at the same time making their incredible offerings affordable!

My little guy loves to be read to. I've been reading to him since he was my "tummy monster," (he kicked..a lot) and I even find him sitting alone in his room sometimes, turning the pages on his favourite books. I can't think of a better way of engaging him (or any little one for that matter!) than making him literally part of the story. Traditional personalized books include your child's name in the text. Frecklebox takes personalization a step beyond that to incorporate your little one's name throughout the story line and even in the illustrations themselves. By far my favourite feature of the Frecklebox website is they let you view the finished product before you order. I ordered the softcover My Name Is... personalized book for Little Man, and was thrilled to see the book personalized before my eyes! When you are ordering, you simply input your information (the child's name, dedication, who the book is from, and gender), hit 'update' and you can browse the book as it will appear when it arrives at your door! Offering a wide range of personalized book themes that appeal to a broad age range, you will be sure to return to Frecklebox as your little one grows. If your little one is about to be a big brother or sister, they even offer a New Baby book to help explain how important their new role is, and how much mommy and daddy love them. You can even include a picture of your big brother or sister to be!



My Name Is... personalized book is the tale of your child learning to spell his or her name. As I viewed the online preview of our book, I wondered if the real thing would be as bright and vibrant. My hopes and expectations were exceeded when our Frecklebox package arrived, and Little Man sat for our first reading (of course the above example is taken from the ordering preview on the website - I used Little Man's name for ours). The quality of the books is outstanding - sharp, crisp images printed on quality heavy paper make for a reading experience that is sure to grab the attention of any child. Each scenario of Little Man finding his name in is nature engaging, interesting, and perhaps most importantly for little ones, is bright and colourful. Since the book arrived, I've spied Little Man shunning Barney, in favour of sitting and thumbing through the pages of his My Name Is... personalized book. He even had to bring his book with him to the front door to greet his daddy when he arrived home from work - Little Man's version of show and tell, and truly a testament as to how much he enjoys his new book.

We also received a personalized growth chart, and as his walls are already filled with monkeys, the Jungle Giraffe chart was perfect for us. With themes ranging from a Pink Poodle in Paris to a Dinosaur Party you'll be sure to find the perfect match for your little one as well. I was pleased to note that this is not your ordinary growth chart - aside from the obvious fact that it was personalized. You can forget the paper ones, this chart is made of a sturdy canvas material, and will be sure to stand the test of time (ie: Little Man's abuse). Starting at 24" and extending to 60" (I can't even imagine him being that big!) this growth chart is the perfect keepsake, nicely rolling up and tucking into your memory box. Little Man is quite enamoured with the characters on his growth chart, so we've installed 2 hooks - 1 to hold it at the right height while I'm measuring him and 1 to hold it out of his reach while it adds to the decor of his room. He's taken to 'sharing' (read: feeding) his favourite things with his 'pup.'
